About Turk's Head Coffee Roasters

Turk’s Head Coffee Roasters is the culmination of over 60 years of coffee knowledge from the four generations of the Lamont Family. The Lamont Family coffee pedigree started in 1950 when Joe Lamont Sr. started a grocery store in Glenolden, Pa called Lamont’s Self Service.

Joe’s coffee endeavor took off in 1956 when he started Lamont Coffee. His goal was to provide high quality coffee beans to the local cafes and restaurants. He also wanted his community to have access to the most flavorful coffee available as options were slim in the 50’s. With his perseverance of sourcing and delivering coffee Joe earned the trust of his customers and community. Our four generations of coffee enthusiast have evolved with the times to deliver our exceptional Lamont Coffees to coffee shops, cafes and restaurants in the greater Philadelphia area.

The Lamont Family wanted to offer more than just wholesaling to businesses. Joe Lamont Sr’s Grandsons, Joe III and Jim, wanted to take their coffee delivery to the next level. They wanted to offer the finest coffee possible directly to the their customers at home.  In 2016, the Lamont Family launched Turk’s Head Coffee Roasters.

 Our Coffee Roaster

In 1788, downtown West Chester was know as Turk’s Head. The tavern named Turk’s Head Inn became the center of what was initially just a few crossroads. The Inn even served as a hospital after the Battle of Brandywine in 1777. This area continued to prosper and was eventually renamed to West Chester by John Hannum. He also decided to build a new Court House in 1784 and in 1786, West Chester was named the justice seat of Chester County. To be known by the historical name of the borough we love, we take the honor of Turk’s Head very seriously. With pride for our roots, and decades of experience, we’re pleased to bring you our premium Turk’s Head coffees and exquisite roasts.
